Increased car park spaces with Ybern’s Ticketless Parking System

Results, Return on Investment and Future Plans

Ybern TPS is a Web 2.0 Ticketless Parking System giving Centre management real time data on vehicle movements, revenue, turnover and other metrics to meet their KPI’s.

  • 20% Increase in turnover of vehicles
  • Free flow entry and exit lanes.
  • 70% decrease in maintenance cost over ticket system
  • 95% decrease in service calls
  • 100% uptime of equipment
  • 100% increase in customer satisfaction.
  • Future proof technology, system already touchless.

Executive Summary

The centre provides 3 hrs of free parking for their customers and is surrounded by high rise units and opposite Strathfield train station. The Parking Access Control System into the centre was paper based ticket system. This gave opportunity for:

  • Residents of the high rise to use the car park as their personal car space.
  • Commuters to leave their cars all day
  • Retail staff & other business taking away parking spaces from shoppers trying to use the centre.
  • Constant Traffic queues in and out.

The above issues all solved when Ybern’s Ticketless System when installed.

Challenges

The Plaza could not control retail staff and other business from parking in the car park and driving out after 3 hrs and back in to get another free 3hours. This created traffic congestion at entry and exit as cars circled out and in fighting for spaces with shoppers. This started to impact foot traffic into the centre drivers sought less congested shopping centre car parks. The centre tried various ways to stop drivers circling in and out by deploying their security guards to identify and stop vehicles driving back in, resulted in security being threatened. With residents & commuters they would “Tail-Gate” on exit to avoid payment.

How Product Helped

  • Captures 100% of vehicles driving in & out.
  • 98% recognition, Ybern’s camera Tech & AI
  • 2% manual correction
  • 100% correct vehicle data.

Retail staff tried the turned around within 3hrs and had to pay when they tried to leave the second time. This practice stopped overnight. Residents & commuters also were caught, the system captures front & rear license plate and processes these images in less than 2 seconds, drivers cannot escape under the boomgate. Another advantage no more security staff being threatened, they are safely in the control room and communicate to drivers via intercom and using CCTV and Ybern Web 2.0 management system.

Executive Summary

The centre provides 2 hrs of free parking for their customers. The centre is on top of Edgecliff train station, surrounded by high rise units and is a major commuter hub. The previous Parking Access Control System into the centre was a paper based ticket system. This gave opportunity for:

  • Residents of the high rise to use the car park as their personal car space.
  • Train commuters to leave their cars all day.
  • Retail staff and other business taking away parking spaces from shoppers trying to use the centre.
  • Constant traffic queues in and out.

The above issues all solved when Ybern’s Ticketless System when installed.

Challenges

The client was unable to commit to the capital cost for new equipment. Ybern solved this problem with PaaS (Parking as a Service) model. With PaaS, the client does not need to pay up front equipment costs, they pay for civil/installation costs and a monthly subscription fee for a predetermined time, there are no other costs. Repayments and maintenance are in the one monthly payment. Once the contract concludes, the client has a choice of renewing or not. If they choose not to renew, the equipment is removed at no cost to the client. The centre’s challenges with train commuters, retail staff, other businesses, residents and their friends taking shoppers car spaces as well as constant traffic queues in and out left them with many issues they could not control.

Ybern Delivers

  • Captures 100% of vehicles driving in and out.
  • >98% recognition, Ybern’s camera Tech & AI.

Ybern TPS stopped turn around at EastPoint Food Fair leaving more spaces for shoppers, which meant parking attendants are not required to be on-site as our system allows for drivers to seamlessly move throughout the car park without having to fight for a space. Ybern’s PaaS model offers end to end solutions for all sizes of business, designed to modernise car parks, find the right balance to suit business needs for cost, as well as align the investment with business outcomes.
